Dr. Matteo Cargnello is a Senior Scientific Advisor at Azimuth Capital Management. His responsibilities include providing scientific and technical guidance related to Azimuth’s Low Carbon Fuels and Electrification Resources verticals. Dr. Cargnello leverages his Ph.D in
Nanotechnology to support the evaluation of emerging technologies of interest to the Azimuth platform.
Dr. Cargnello is an Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering and, by courtesy, of Materials Science and Engineering, and Silas Palmer Faculty Scholar at Stanford University. In addition, Matteo leads the Cargnello Group, a research team with the objective of solving energy and environmental challenges related to chemical processes and catalysis. The group focuses on capture and conversion of carbon dioxide, emission control, reduction of methane and hydrocarbon emissions in the atmosphere, sustainable chemical practices through electro- and photocatalysis, sustainable production of hydrogen, carbon-based materials, chemical recycling of plastics, and sustainable cement manufacturing. Dr. Cargnello’s work has been recognized with numerous awards in
in addition to having published 140 papers in top scientific journals.
Dr. Cargnello received his Ph.D. in Nanotechnology from the University of Trieste and then went on to be a post-doctoral scholar in the Chemistry Department at the University of Pennsylvania before joining the Faculty at Stanford in 2015.
